The Square One Family Center is excited to partner with Cooking Matters to offer a six-week series focused on nutrition. Cooking Matters is part of the “No Kid Hungry” campaign to end childhood hunger in America. The program teaches participants to shop smarter, use nutrition to make healthier choices and cook delicious affordable meals. (cookingmatters.org)

With the Square One Family Center, Cooking Matters has engaged 18 parents in a hands-on instructional cooking course. Each course is led by a team comprised of a chef and nutrition educator. The team educates parents on meal preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting and nutrition. Through the series, parents develop food skills, including reading ingredient labels and proper knife techniques. Each meal created during the series brings parents together to make a healthy meal on a $10 budget that can feed a family of four.
