SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Thanks to the Preschool Expansion Grant, the Springfield Public School Department is partnering with three of the region’s most highly regarded early educators to provide free preschool for qualifying families. Laura Mendes is from Springfield Public Schools and she joins us with more information.

The initiative, which has been in place since the beginning of the school year, is a collaborative of:
Springfield Public Schools
Head Start
Square One
YMCA of Greater Springfield.

Since September, 195 children have been participating in a full day (8 hours/day) that prepares them for learning and engages the families as their child’s first teachers.
The partners work closely with Springfield Public Schools to ensure that we are meeting the developmental needs of students while preparing for kindergarten.
We are currently enrolling for a new group of 195 to start in September.
