• Launch Program

Formerly known as Go Fit, Square One's commitment to the LAUNCH program provides low income children the opportunity to participate in daily physical activity whether it is during the summer months or academic school year.

  • Early Education & Care

Square One operates four children's centers within the city of Springfield and one in Holyoke. Centers open between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and remain open as late as 5:30 p.m. Programs at our centers vary depending on the age and development of enrolled children, but always focus on providing opportunities for children to grow strong cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically.

Mission Moments

  • Mom Squad is a vital program built to serve mothers who are homeless or at risk for homelessness.

  • The LAUNCH curriculum consists of fun, physical activities that includes topics such as conflict resolution, personal safety, hygiene, nutrition, stress reduction and more.

  • Children are inside the classroom having fun and playing games. Throw in some singing, too. What you hear is the sound of young children learning early literacy skills.

Be our Guest

Nothing excites our Square One children more than when special guests visit our classrooms to read stories, work on a project or just enjoy a good chat.

Over the past few weeks, we have enjoyed visits from Springfield City Councilor Tim Rooke; Springfield City Councilor and candidate for Hampden County Sheriff Tom Ashe; and Hampden County Sheriff's Office Assistant Superintendent and Candidate for Sheriff Nick Cocchi.

In the weeks ahead, we will welcome State Senator Eric Lesser and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.

Square One enjoyed "Zoo on the Go"

Our Square One preschoolers enjoyed a trip to the Springfield Museums for the Zoo on the Go program this week. Thank you MassLive for capturing the excitement and beautiful smiles! The Summer Spectacular series of events at the Springfield Museums is continuing through August, providing educational and entertaining family programs. The Zoo at Forest Park's "Zoo on the Go" made a visit to the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History to give kids an up-close look at some animals.

Celebrating Dads

More than 200 people from Square One's Healthy Families program came out to enjoy an evening of food, music, face painting, games and sunshine on June 21.  This yearly event honors fathers and celebrates the important role that dads play in the lives of their children. Studies have shown that children who are raised with a father or father figure are:

The spirit of family filled the room on June 8 at Painting with a Twist in East Longmeadow. The studio invited Square One to be the beneficiary of their monthly "Painting for a Purpose" events, where guests were invited to a create a one-of-a-kind painting with 50 percent of the proceeds benefiting the good work of Square One.

Dozens of Square One supporters turned out to enjoy a fun evening out with friends, each creating their own masterpiece illustrations of FAMILY.

This Young Man Knows How to Party!

Meet Jack and his dad, Michael. For Jack's 7th birthday, he asked all of the guests at his party to bring a donation for Square One in lieu of a gift. Jack and his friends filled our office with diapers, baby wipes, toothpaste, tissues, and more - all to support the children and families we serve.

Happy birthday, Jack! You are an inspiration!
